The Science Department organized a comprehensive Awareness Campaign Programme on 7th April to mark the occasion of World Health Day, aiming to promote health consciousness, hygiene practices, and scientific awareness among students and teachers.As part of the campaign, an informative PPT presentation was prepared by the students of Class XII (Biology) and presented to students of Classes V to IX during the fourth period in their respective sections under the guidance of the concerned teachers. Additionally, three sstudents of Class XII A — Shivam Gupta, Anushka Singh, and Rajshree Gupta — delivered a special PPT presentation for the teachers, spreading awareness about health-related issues and the importance of scientific approaches in maintaining well-being.To actively engage students, a painting competition was organized for Classes IV and V on the theme “Fight Germs, Stay Strong.” Students participated enthusiastically and showcased their understanding of cleanliness and healthy habits through creative expressions. A photography competition was also conducted for Classes VI to IX on the topic “Together for Health, Stand with Science,” encouraging students to capture moments that reflect the role of science in promoting health.The campaign was further strengthened by an inspiring speech delivered during the morning assembly by Samriddhi and Shalvi of Class XII A (Biology), highlighting the significance of World Health Day and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.Overall, the Awareness Campaign Programme proved to be highly effective in educating students and teachers about health, hygiene, and sustainability. It successfully fostered a sense of responsibility and encouraged participants to adopt healthier and more conscious practices in their daily lives.

A Teachers’ Training Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics was conducted under the Teiki Uolo initiative to equip educators with knowledge and skills related to emerging technologies. The session was led by Resource Person Mr. Anurag Srivastava and Speaker Mr. Shubham Goel.The primary objective of the workshop was to familiarize teachers with the fundamentals of AI and robotics and to explore their integration into the teaching-learning process. Mr. Anurag Srivastava provided insights into Artificial Intelligence, covering key concepts such as machine learning, automation, and the role of AI in education. He emphasized how AI tools can support personalized learning, assessment, and classroom management.Mr. Shubham Goel focused on the practical aspects of robotics, explaining its components, functioning, and applications across various fields such as education, healthcare, and industry. He also demonstrated how robotics activities can be incorporated into classrooms to enhance students’ critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.The workshop was interactive and engaging, encouraging teachers to participate actively through discussions and queries. It provided valuable exposure to innovative teaching methodologies and digital tools, enabling educators to adapt to the evolving educational landscape.Overall, the training session was highly beneficial and enriching. It empowered teachers with the knowledge and confidence to integrate AI and robotics into their teaching practices, thereby preparing students for future technological advancements.

An Awareness and Capacity Building Workshop was organized by W.H. Smith Memorial School, Varanasi, on the theme “Solid Waste Management – Waste to Green Energy Circular Economy.” The workshop aimed to promote environmental awareness among students by encouraging sustainable practices and introducing innovative solutions for effective waste management. With the guiding message “Learn Act Sustain,” the program emphasized understanding environmental issues, taking responsible actions, and ensuring long-term sustainability. It was held on 11th April 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Cecilia Rose Hall within the school campus. The event featured Mr. Piyush Pandey, Founder and Director of VRPL Mission, Varanasi, as the guest speaker, who shared valuable insights on waste management and green energy solutions, while Dr. Anita Pauline Dey, the Principal, mentored and guided the initiative. The workshop played a significant role in developing environmental responsibility among students, promoting the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle, and inspiring them to think creatively about real-world environmental challenges. Overall, it proved to be a meaningful and impactful initiative towards building awareness and encouraging a sustainable future.

The William Henry Maths Marathon Intraschool Competition was held on 4th May 2026. The main motive of this competition is to develop mathematical attitudes among Students.The competition was divided into different levels. Firstly screening round of 1500 students took place on 28th April 2026, by this, we shortlisted the students for the final Quiz. The Quiz competition was divided into 3 Groups according to their classes. First Group was the Sub Junior group (for classes 4th and 5th). The second Group is the Junior Group(for classes 6th,7th, and 8th). The third Group was the Senior Group (for classes 9th,10th, and 12th).The competition was started by giving a floral tribute to the founder of the school,Mr. William Henry Smith, by Mrs. Sangeeta Nayak (Coordinator), and Mr. Ajay Pandey (Convenor of the program) and Mr. R.N Trivedi. After that, Mr. Ajay Pandey Sir briefed the participants on all the rules and regulations. The Judges of the Event were Mr. Rajan Pandey (HOD of Computer Department). They both encourage and motivated all the participants during the quiz. The Quiz was conducted by the Students of the 12th class.Overall, the competition was a great Success. All the participants learned so many new things.

The William Henry Inter-School Maths Marathon was successfully organized in the campus of W.H. Smith Memorial School on 9 th may 2026 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and teachers of10 schools across Varanasi. Around 60 students participated in the various competitions conducted during the programme.The programme commenced with the garlanding of the photograph of Mr W. H Smith as a mark of respect and remembrance. The event was graced by the distinguished chief guest, Dr Anupam Priyadarshi, guest of honour, Dr Anoop Singh, and Mr. Mahendra Pratap Yadav. Their inspiring presence motivated the participants and added prestige to the occasion.The Maths Marathon consisted of three major events designed to promote mathematical creativity, logical thinking, and presentation skills among students of different age groups:Pie Wars – A model-making competition for students of Classes VI to VIII.2.  Brainy Battle – A quiz competition for students of Classes IX and X.3.  Legacy of the Infinite – A PowerPoint presentation competition for students of Classes XI and XII based on the contributions of famous mathematicians.The programme began with Legacy of the Infinite presentations on the stage, where students confidently presented the lives and achievements of renowned mathematicians. This was followed by Pie Wars, in which participants displayed innovative mathematical models and creative ideas.Next was the screening round for Brainy Battle was conducted. All participating teams took part in the screening test and were given 25 minutes to solve the questions. Based on their performance, six teams were selected for the final round of the quiz competition. In the final round, the six teams were asked questions based on different topics of Mathematics. Trivedi, who expressed gratitude to the chief guests, participating schools, teachers, students, and organizers for making the event a grand success.The William Henry maths marathon was not merely a competition, it was a celebration of intellect, a tribute to legacy, and the testament to the timeless truth: mathematics is, indeed, the music of Reason.

W H Smith Memorial School organised a grand and memorable Appreciation Ceremony on 8th May 2026 to honour the achievements and participation of students in the fields of Cinematography, Generation Global, and the World Health Day Painting Competition. The programme was a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, global awareness, and artistic excellence.The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome extended by the comperes, who graciously welcomed the esteemed Principal, Dr. Anita Pauline Dey, Vice Principal Mrs. Pratyasha Mary Dey, distinguished guests Mr. Shubham Seth and Mr. Utkarsh Upender, respected faculty members, proud parents, and enthusiastic students. The programme began on a soulful note with the school prayer song and victory song presented beautifully by the school choir.The dignitaries formally welcomed the guests by presenting tokens of appreciation. The audience was then introduced to the glorious journey and legacy of the school, which was beautifully presented by Ayushi Dhawan, followed by an inspiring welcome speech delivered by Mrs. Mamta Bothra.The ceremony was further enriched by the presence and motivational words of the chief guests. Mr. Shubham Seth shared his experiences from the world of theatre and cinema and encouraged students to pursue creativity with passion and dedication. Later, Mr. Utkarsh Upender inspired the audience with his journey in theatre, direction, and performing arts.One of the major highlights of the event was the presentation of the report on the Cinematography Project by Mr. Ankur Vishwakarma. The report showcased how students explored storytelling through visuals and developed artistic confidence through practical learning experiences. Certificates were then awarded to the students who had actively participated in the cinematography programme under the Smith Skill Development Programme (SSDP).The programme also celebrated the achievements of students who participated in Generation Global, an initiative that promotes intercultural dialogue and global citizenship among young learners. Mrs. Pooja Maurya presented the report highlighting the students’ participation in meaningful global discussions and collaborative learning experiences with peers across the world. Certificates were awarded to all participating students amidst loud applause and appreciation from the audience.Adding colour and creativity to the event, the winners of the World Health Day Painting Competition were also felicitated for their outstanding artistic expression and awareness-driven artwork. The CISCE Zonal Chess and Yoga Tournament was successfully organised at WH Smith Memorial School on Saturday, 16 May 2026. The prestigious zonal-level event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 17 schools, making the tournament a grand celebration of sportsmanship, discipline, and talent.The programme commenced with the Opening Ceremony at 8:00 a.m. in the school premises. Students, coaches, referees, and officials gathered with great enthusiasm to mark the beginning of the tournament. Various chess matches and yoga events were conducted throughout the day in a well-organised and disciplined manner.Around 22 officials served as referees and judges for the smooth and fair conduct of the competitions. Their dedication and expertise ensured that every event was carried out successfully and transparently.The Closing Ceremony was held at 4:30 p.m. The evening ceremony was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Kavita Verma. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of distinguished guests Ashish Kumar and Abhijeet Singh.The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the participants and encouraged students to continue pursuing excellence in both academics and sports. Certificates and awards were distributed to the winners amidst loud applause and cheers.The closing ceremony was  compered by Puja Maurya and Rupali Arora. Our school participated in the Farida Abraham Memorial Debate and Quiz Competition held at La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow, from 16th May to 18th May 2026. The students representing our school in the Debate Competition were Aarna Sandilya (Class 12-B), Diptanshi (Class 12-B), and Mimansa Singh (Class 11-B). The participants representing our school in the Quiz Competition were Ishan Singh (Class 10-B) and Lukshmi Singh (Class 10-A). A total of 30 teams participated in the quiz competition and 28 teams participated in the debate competition. The debate was conducted in four rounds, while the quiz was conducted in two rounds. Our team successfully participated up to the preliminary rounds in both events. On the last day, we were also taken on a city tour where we visited the State Museum and the historic Rumi Darwaza, which further enriched our experience and allowed us to explore the cultural heritage of Lucknow. During the formal dinner hosted as part of the event, we also had the opportunity to meet the Principal of La Martiniere Girls’ College, Mrs. A. Das. The competition proved to be an enriching and valuable learning experience for all participants, offering exposure to high-level competitive debating and quizzing. We express our sincere gratitude to our respected Principal, Dr. Anita Pauline Dey, for providing us with this opportunity and encouraging our participation in such academic events.

A workshop on English Literature and Modern Teaching Pedagogy was conducted by Ms. Rupali Arora. The session focused on the importance of teaching literature and the development of language and communication skills among students. The speaker explained that literature helps in improving vocabulary, creativity, imagination, moral values, confidence, and understanding of emotions. It also connects students with culture, history, and real-life experiences. The workshop highlighted the major challenges faced while teaching English, such as different learning levels, fear of speaking English, lack of reading habits, pronunciation problems, short attention span, and classroom management. Ms. Rupali Arora also discussed the core competencies in English Literature, including listening comprehension, reading comprehension, vocabulary usage, sequencing ideas, speaking confidently, expressing opinions, and creative responses. Special emphasis was given to competency-based education as suggested in NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023. The session encouraged teachers to ask open-ended questions, promote discussions, and develop critical thinking and creativity among students. The workshop concluded with the message that teachers play the role of catalysts in shaping young minds through continuous learning, collaboration, and passion for teaching. Overall, the session was informative, inspiring, and beneficial for all educators present.
