Maths Marathon was organized under the able guidance of the Principal Mrs. Anita Pauline Dey, 7:45 a.m. onwards in Cecilia Rose Smith Hall of W. H. Smith Memorial School on 13th May 2023. The esteemed guest for the programme was Prof. A.K. Agarwal. The guests, the judges, the administrator and the students were welcomed by Mrs. Smriti Agrawal.
The screening round of Maths Marathon was conducted on 1st May 2023 in which 2000 students participated out of them 32 students were shortlisted. Children showcased their mathematical and analytical skills and overcame their fear of numbers.
In sub junior group, Prakhar of Class 4 A and Aryan Singh of Class 5 C bagged the first position.
In junior group, first position was acquired by Pratyusha, Parth Singh and Arush Mishra of 6 B, 7 A and 8 B respectively.
In senior group, first position was achieved by Hiranya Jaiswal, Ramish Khan and Vani Jaiswal of Class 9 C, 10 C and 12 A respectively.
Prakhar of class 4 A had a outstanding performance and has been appreciated for his spontaneous answer.
The Chief Guest appreciated the endeavor of the school management to inculcate the skills of calculation, mental math and an opportunity to excel. He gave a motivational speech in which he highlighted the importance of these types of competitions and said that not only did this enhance the skills of students but also provided a platform to showcase their talents in the field of mental mathematics and year by year it is improving. The participants and the audience both were equally participating and enjoying the programme.
Winners were applauded for their hard work which they put in. Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest Prof. A.K. Aggarwal (IIT BHU). The programme was compared by the students – Vidhi, Siddhika and Quiz Master Mr. Utkarsh Mishra. Administrator Mrs. Pratyasha Dey also appreciated the efforts of children. The team of teachers who were involved with the planning and organizing and conduction of this programme were: Mr. Ajay Pandey, Mrs. Smriti Agrawal, Mr. R. N. Elocution has been an integral part and a yearly feature of W.H. Smith Memorial School for the last two decades. Elocution plays an important role in the formation, articulation, and pronunciation of speech. It helps students to exhibit their oratory skills. It helps students to develop their self-expression and confidence. This year the English and Hindi Elocution Competition for Classes 1 to 5, was held on 26TH April 2023, Wednesday at the Cecelia Rose Hall of our school. The competition was divided into 3 categories: the first category for Classes LN and UN, the second category for Classes 1,2, and 3, and the third category for Classes 4 and 5. The honorable judges for English Elocution were Mrs. Sheila Andrews and Dr. Supriya Singh. The esteemed judges for Hindi elocution were Dr. Sapna Bhushan and Dr. Gangesh Dixit. The morning began with an introduction to the judges, who were teachers from across the schools.

The Concordia 3.0 Award Ceremony was held on 12th August 2023, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Cecelia Rose Memorial Hall, and was also broadcasted on YouTube. It was organized by W.H. The Concordia 3.0 Award Ceremony was held on 12th August 2023, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Cecelia Rose Memorial Hall, and was also broadcasted on YouTube. It was organized by W.H. Smith Memorial School, Sigra, Varanasi. The event was conducted by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Hariharan, Mrs. Shashi Seth, Mrs. Kirti Srivastava, Mrs. Puja Maurya and Ms. Utkarsha Srivastava. A brief history of W.H. Smith Memorial was presented by Mrs. Kirti Srivastava. .The report- ‘Vision of Concordia’ was presented by Mrs. Meena Mamgain. The Chief Guest, Prof. Rana P. B. Singh, President RWYC Asia, graced the occasion along with the Convenor of the programme, Mrs. Pratyasha Mary Mukherjee.
The ceremony began with a ‘School Documentary’ followed by a tribute to the Founder Lt. Mrs. Cecelia Rose Smith. A welcome speech was delivered by the Principal, Dr. Anita Pauline Dey. The main events showcased the felicitation of talents across various disciplines: Thought Gym-Panel Discussion, Cinephilic-Smartphone Movie Making, Cartoonathon-Cartoon Making, A New View: Photography Contest, Dance for Peace- Solo Dance Contest and Rekindling Peace- Creative Writing Contest, with more than 500 participants from 32 schools across India.
Highlights included Thought Gym- A Live Panel Discussion with focus on topics such as 'Oil Spills', ‘Sustainable Fisheries’ and 'Human Capital in the World of Artificial Intelligence'; Cinephilic-themes like-‘A Day In The life Of A Puppy’, 'WiFi Goes Down – Children Discover New Ways Of Entertainment', 'Dream A Dream And It Comes True'; Rekindling Peace- ‘Stranded’, ‘Switching Roles’; A New View: 'A Busy Street', 'Big Cities, Paper Light Dreams'; Dance For Peace: 'Sunshine Day’ by Osibisa, 'One Love' by Bob Marley, 'Imagine' by John Lennon; Cartoonathon: 'A Fairy Tale with a Modern Twist’, 'World Without Technology'.
A bench of 19 judges- Prof. J. K. Roy, Prof. Swati Mittal, Dr. Prashant, Dr. Jaya Chawla, Prof. Manjari Shukla, Ms. Vatsala Chopra, Mr. Sajo John, Mr. Chanchal Thapa, Mrs. Vaijayanti Panchal, Dr. Pinky Tripathi, Dr. Sunil Vishwakarma, Mr. Krishna Singh, Mr. Manish Khattry, Mr. Amrit Mishra, Dr. Divya Srivastava, Dr. Vidushi Padmavati Saranathan, Prof. Manjari Jhunjunwala, Dr. Supriya Singh and Mrs. Meenakshi Mishra meticulously adjudicated their expertise.
The judges appreciated the organisers and insisted on collaborating for such relevant issues in the future too. They presented their review during the event either physically or on live stream.
The winners and the judges were felicitated. Notable awards presented were the Runner-Up Trophy to Delhi Public School, Bachhao and the Concordia 3.0 Championship Trophy to Sunbeam English School, Bhagwanpur.

W. H. Smith Memorial School, Varanasi hosted the preliminary round of the Frank Anthony Memorial All-India Competition 2023 Category II on 10th July 2023.
The Headmistress accorded a cordial welcome to the judges of the competition, Prof. Manoj Mishra, Dr. Supriya Singh and Mrs. Shalini Deva.
A total of seven teams engaged in an impressive exchange of words on the topic- Facebook friends have become more real than real friends.
Each school comprised two speakers , where one supported the motion and the other opposed. All the participants presented their cases eloquently with a perfect argumentative fervour . The highlight of the event was the rebuttal session , as a volley of questions were answered confidently by both the sides , inviting counter questions which were aptly answered by witty and vivacious speakers . The participants were full of energy and used various skills like overstatement, rhetoric, irony etc. to convince the audience. The session was a kaleidoscope of opinions , thoughts , ideas and perspectives that definitely enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the topic among students . The judges appreciated the sincere efforts of the students and were touched with the cordial hospitality of the host school .
Towards the close of this wonderful session, the students were adjudged as Best Speaker, 1st Runner-up Speaker, Winning School Team and 1st Runner-up Team.
